A Debenhams customer has been convicted after racially abusing a Muslim staff member.
Toneeta Beckford, 33, told Mahbuba Kamali ‘go back to your country you f*****g’ Muslim’ after a dispute over a returned item on July 7, last year.
Beckford also grabbed Ms Kamali by the wrist during her tirade at the flagship store in Oxford Street, central London.

‘I moved to the other side and she grabs my wrist and pulls me towards her.

‘I told her I was born here. She started saying something about the London Bridge attack.
‘I was terrified because I have never heard that before.’

She had denied religiously aggravated assault but was convicted last month.
Beckford, from Smethwick, West Midlands, was sentenced to a 12-month community order with a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement yesterday.
She was also ordered to pay costs of £300, a victim surcharge of £85 and compensation of £50.

Beckford was given a suspended jail sentence later reduced to 50 hours of unpaid work and a community order after an appeal.
