Coronation Street's Samia Longchambon reveals crippling panic attacks triggered by charity TV adverts

CORONATION Street star Samia Longchambon has opened up about her mental health battle – admitting that even charity TV adverts can trigger a panic attack.
The 36-year-old actress has been struggling with anxiety for the last 25 years, but only opened up about it in the last 12 months.

Speaking to The Mirror, Samia said: “The last couple of years it’s been quite intense at times. Over the years I have had help.
“Obviously I went to the doctors when I was 11 with it. I’ve never spoken about it before but I have had different forms of therapy over the years.”
The mother-of-two went on to reveal that she has tried multiple different types of counselling in a bid to overcome her issues, but has ultimately just “learned to live with it”.
Samia, who plays Maria Connor in the ITV soap, also credited yoga to helping her control her breathing – which can help with her anxiety.

But she still finds herself being triggered by every day things – including TV adverts.
She told the publication: “With my anxiety it’s always like a sense of dread that something bad is about to happen. It’ll be different, like obsessions. Recently it’s been like a health anxiety about everything.
“I can’t even watch a charity advert for cancer or something. I have to turn the channel over. I’m hypersensitive. It’s like a daily battle against yourself, in a way.”
