James has said in the past that transforming the receding hairline he had in 2011 into the lustrous thatch familiar to Cold Feet viewers has helped his career.
The star, who plays Adam Williams in the hit ITV drama, said: “I began losing hair several years ago. I felt it could affect my career.”
James has also admitted: “In terms of the range of leading roles I’ve had since then it’s probably helped.”
The star uses Hair Restoration Blackrock in Dublin, which claims to have also transformed the hairlines of Anton Du Beke and Louis Walsh.

The procedure works by taking hair follicles from one part of the body and adding them to a part that is balding.
He has previously claimed: “The guy who does it is a genius. It’s not cheap, probably 20 grand.”
James and the Cold Feet team have won countless plaudits for the most recent series, which saw Adam’s womanising ways land him in hot water, before he hooked up with Hermione Norris’ Karen.
He told The Sun there were some parallels between him and his character, admitting: “God, I’ve certainly put my family through some difficult times in the past.

It saw Adam and Karen finally hooking up
“There’s not a million miles between me and Adam — as much as I’d like to say it’s been a stretch. I wouldn’t say I’ve learnt a lot from him, I would say he is influenced quite a lot by me.
“I just don’t think men want to grow up as quickly. It depends on who the person is, of course — I’ve got some male friends who are extremely mature.”
He added: “I spend as little time with them as possible.”
