ROB GREEN enjoyed arguably the greatest moment in his Chelsea career… when he nutmegged Marcos Alonso in training.
And now Blues fans are “officially done” with the Spanish full-back after he hit a new low for the club.
Rob Green pulled off a stunning piece of skill to nutmeg defender Marcos Alonso during Chelsea training
During a giant Rondo involving 23 players, Green pulled off an outrageous backheel flick through the legs of his team-mate – cue wild celebrations.
The veteran goalkeeper, 39, jumped up in delight before the rest of the squad rushed over to join in the crazy scenes at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground.
Maurizio Sarri’s side are preparing to face London rivals West Ham tonight and know victory will take them above Arsenal and Spurs into third.
Green joined the Stamford Bridge club on a one-year deal last summer but has not played a single competitive match since his arrival.
He is the third-choice stopper behind No1 Kepa Arrizabalaga and back-up Willy Caballero.
And it was Argentine Caballero who shared the brilliant video on his Instagram story.
He wrote: “We should always finish the training like this. Thanks Rob Green. @marcosalonso28 “close your legs bro.””
And unsurprisingly, Chelsea fans were keen to join in with the bashing of the Spanish left-back.
Will Reyner wrote on Twitter: “I’M OFFICIALLY DONE ALONSO GOT MEGGED BY ROB GREEN HAHAH SAUCE ON TAP.”
Alex Goldberg added: “Oh dear me…”
User @BaciFlorian said: “And Alonso is supposed to defend against liverpool….. pls dont to this to me.”
Meanwhile, @CFCallum_ simply put: “Get this fraud out of my club.”
Another named the former Norwich, West Ham, QPR and England goalkeeper “Lord Green” while Declan Hill chipped in with his own brutal comment.
He said: “Hopefully he’ll retire now.”
Alonso, 28, has struggled for game in recent weeks with Sarri rotating the Spain international with Emerson at left-back.
And getting mugged – or should I say “megged” – off by none other than Rob Green will certainly not have helped his confidence.
However, the reaction of the players and Cabellero’s comments suggest the Chelsea squad is happy, united and enjoying themselves.
That is despite the huge pressure on the rest of their season as the Blues desperately try and qualify for the Champions League again – whether that is through finishing in the top four or winning the Europa League.
