BUZZING Arsenal fans reckon a spot in next season’s Champions League is on the cards – and not through the Europa League route, thanks to their run-in.
Despite years of jibes, Gunners supporters are actually hopeful of finishing in fourth this term – claiming it’s at least better than sixth.
Arsenal beat Southampton in a productive weekend for them, as Manchester United were held at home by Liverpool.
Those results meant they finally broke into the Champions League spots – sitting a point above United with 11 games to play.
The North London giants became infamous for “their spot” in the league – a joke that did the rounds for the better part of a decade thanks to finishing there year after year in the second-half of Arsene Wenger’s tenure.
But fans are saying they’d happily be back there after a couple of years languishing outside of the coveted Champions League places.
Reuters Arsenal fans reckon a top four spot is on the cards this season
On Reddit user wrote: “I’ll gladly take all the 4th place jokes all summer if we can be here 11 games later!”
Another confirmed: “4th place jokes are better than 6th place jokes.”
But it’s not just a spot in the top four some Arsenal fans have got their eye on – with many dreaming of getting one back over arch-rivals Tottenham.
After all, Spurs travel to Chelsea on Wednesday night, while the Gunners host Bournemouth.

Should results go their way, Arsenal could wake up on Thursday morning just four points adrift of Tottenham – with ten games still to go.
Arsenal then have a make-or-break clash against Spurs this Saturday at Wembley – with a win there cutting the gap to just a single point.
Despite a tricky test the following Sunday – at home to Man Utd – Arsenal’s run-in is one of the easiest around.
Trips to Everton and Wolves are arguably their toughest tests to come – while Tottenham have it much harder.

As well as their games with Chelsea and Arsenal, Spurs still have to travel to Premier League leaders Liverpool AND reigning champions Manchester City.
It’s likely Mauricio Pochettino’s men will drop at least a couple of points from those four fixtures against their top six rivals.
With 11 games to go and a much easier-looking run-in, Arsenal really could be in with a shot of leapfrogging Spurs and snatching third place in the Prem.
