Appliance makers often bring out new models in early May ahead of summer — leading to discounts on older stock.

And instead of January, many firms cut prices in October to clear the way for new items for Black Friday and Christmas.
Washing machines, TVs and cookers can be bargains then.
Midweek mornings when staff are less busy are best times to haggle, says Repairaid.co.uk.
Meanwhile Amazon has its own 24 hour bargain bonanza called Prime Day in mid-July.

When shopping for tech products – TVs, games consoles and smartphones, wait for the newest release to get the preceding model a lot cheaper.
Other consumer tricks include waiting till the end of the month. Sales staff need to meet their quotas and are more open to customers who negotiate the price down.
