Boxing news: Anthony Joshua wants to open fight talks with Deontay Wilder now

Wilder and Joshua have been unable to come to terms (Picture: Reuters)Anthony Joshua wants to open negotiations with Deontay Wilder for their unification fight now ahead of his fight with Jarrell Miller.
The three-belt world champion defends his titles against Miller in June and has been chasing a showdown with Wilder for the last year.
But after talks broke down last summer and Wilder rejected the chance to join DAZN last month, Joshua thinks both sides need time to work out their differences.
‘The situation with Wilder and stuff, we should start negotiating now,’ Joshua told DAZN.

‘In terms of a fight of undisputed magnitude, maybe we need double the time. We need to start progressing now.’
Wilder claims he turned down DAZN’s offer of a three-fight deal because the streaming service while Eddie Hearn has repeatedly insisted the WBC champion’s demands have derailed talks.
Joshua believes the blame game needs to stop, accepting both he and Wilder had made mistakes.

‘In terms of the negotiations, they just didn’t align at the time and I realise that I’ve said a lot of things to blame him and he’s said a lot of things to blame me.
‘I feel like we kind of have to put the tit-for-tat aside, realise where we both went wrong in the negotiations and get it right.
‘It’s coming to a stage where only the fans are missing out.’
