WINE giant Blossom Hill is tapping into the nation’s ongoing gin obsession by launching two sparkling tipples, and they’re perfect for summer nights.
Mixed with white wine, botanical infused water and a dash of gin, the new gin fizz comes in two flavours – rhubarb, and lemon with rosemary.
The fizzy tipple could be the perfect summer drink
Each bottle contains 75cl and has an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 8.5 per cent.
Both flavours are said to be best enjoyed poured over ice, served with a simple garnish such as a slice of lemon or orange.
The booze has already rolled out in Asda, Co-op and Morrisons stores, where it will set you back £9 per bottle.
They’ll also be available on Morrisons’ website in the next couple of days, but Blossom Hill’s owner, Treasury Wine Estates, hasn’t yet told us an exact date yet.
You’ll also be able to buy them online at Asda from the first week of June.
The tipple was first spotted by Facebook page Money Saver Online, and its followers are loving it – the post has so far racked up more than 1,600 comments.
One user wrote: “This is on another level of need. While another said: “Looks like the perfect bbq drink to me!”
Shoppers are loving the new gin fizz
The launch comes just a few days after Blossom Hill’s rival Echo Falls rolled out its own pink gin.
This is more expensive at £16 a bottle but it also comes with a higher ABV of 37.5 per cent.
If you prefer sipping on a glass or two of Blossom Hill wine, you’ll currently find the cheapest bottles on sale at Asda and Tesco where its white wine costs £5.
This has a higher ABV than the gin fizz at 11.5 per cent.
Bo Jakubenko of Treasury Wine Estates said: “We’re really excited to bring Gin Fizz to market – it’s the result of direct customer feedback about what they want to see from the Blossom Hill brand and the wine category in general.
“We know that gin is booming and that people are looking for refreshment and convenience from their drinks purchases.
“With Blossom Hill’s Gin Fizz we have developed a product that responds to this need.”
