IT’S not a vintage day of racing on Wednesday but there are a couple of interesting little races at Yarmouth and Kempton, while Catterick and Lingfield keep it interesting for afternoon punters.
I’ve had a little look through the cards and come up with my best bets of the day.
3.30 Beryl The Petal – David O’Meara’s contender finally got off the mark at Pontefract last time out, skipping away from her rivals for an emphatic success.
A visor has clearly made a difference to her and she operates just as well over this longer trip.
Now she’s got her head in front she should have the confidence to do the business again, and this is not a strong race.
2.40 Sawasdee – Looked too keen on handicap debut last time out when sent off a strong favourite.
Took an age to get going then, and now more streetwise he should be capable of striking off this mark.
From the bottom of the weights he can see off the hat-trick seeking Cherry Cola.
3.20 Australis – Roger Varian’s three-year-old was a fine runner-up on his second start in novice company and should have plenty more to come off an opening mark of 72.
Although a touch disappointing at Ripon in May, he has since been gelded and connections haven’t taken much time in getting him back out on the track.
The step up to 1m6f is sure to suit and he can get on the scoresheet here.
Bully’s Wednesday BankersCatterick 3.30 – Beryl The Petal
Lingfield 2.40 – Sawasdee
Yarmouth 3.20 – Australis
Kempton 5.15 – Quick Breath
Bath 8.30 – Toolatetodelegate
5.15 Quick Breath – The best bet on the card comes in the shape of Jonathan Portman’s contender,
who only just lost out to an improver last time.
This looks slightly weaker and now back to the scene of his recent win, he should have too much gas.
Tyler Saunders is the best jockey in this contest and the pair can chalk up another victory.
8.30 Toolatetodelegate – Bolted up here last time which followed a good performance over this C&D at the beginning of last month.
Clearly loves the track and can follow up under a 5lb penalty in this very weak contest.
