Baptiste episode 2: Five questions we have as series gets complicated

Tcheky Karyo’s Baptiste has put his family in danger (Picture: BBC)***WARNING: Contains Spoilers***
Well…the latest episode of Baptiste was a bit intense, wasn’t it?
Things are turning nasty for the French detective as his investigation gets personal.
As they leave us hanging for more answers, it seems the latest investigation is about to get even more complicated than it already is (we’re struggling to keep up!)
Here’s everything we want to know next week – after we have a chance to catch our breath.

Edward is more complicated than we could’ve ever imagined (Picture: BBC)Why did Edward not mention his daughter?
During Julien’s latest investigation, it was revealed that Natalie, the girl Edward was on the hunt for, meant more than he initially let on and wasn’t his niece at all.
In fact, she was a striking resemblance for his daughter, Lucy, who was killed at the age of 19 from a drug overdose.
So what side of the good/evil side is Edward actually on? He seems completely twisted.

What secrets is the farmer hiding? (Picture: BBC)What does the farmer have to do with all this?
So the farmer on the outskirts of Amsterdam found a bag, only to break down when taking it to the police station after seeing news of Natalie’s death.
Does the harmless looking farmer with the most loyal dog ever actually have his own stake in the story?
Why does no one have a smart meter?
At the end of the episode, we were left hanging when the deadly gas-meter reader turned up at Julien Baptiste’s home.
This is a sure fire sign that his wife Celia is in serious danger, seeing as the last ‘gas meter’ that was read ended with the homeowner’s body being hacked down with a chainsaw.
So while Julien is off figuring out how far Edward’s deception goes, is his family’s life in danger now?

Will Kim let her boyfriend in on the truth? (Picture: BBC)Who is in charge?
With a head in his basement, it seems pretty clear-cut that Edward is a bit of a messed up guy.
Though the more we see of him in the investigation, and the more he gets involved, it’s open for debate how much of a nasty guy he is.
Is he a puppet? Or is he being played by someone else in the board game that is the criminal underworld of Amsterdam? We just don’t know.
Perhaps his desperation has left him at the will of someone else.

How much does Kim’s boyfriend know?
As the secret matron of a string of sex worker windows in the heart of Amsterdam, Kim has been keeping a lot of secrets.
First and foremost, she has been sneaking hormones to hide the fact that she’s actually transgender, and was previously underworld kingpin Dragomir Zelincu.
With girls constantly stopping by, and now these interactions with the police, Baptiste and Edward, it appears that her live-in other half isn’t asking that many questions.
He seems to be choosing to be ignorant though, revealing he’s not believing her stories after overhearing Edward yelling at him.
Just how much is he playing dumb about?
Baptiste continues next Sunday at 9pm on BBC1.
