ASDA shoppers will now be able to collect loyalty points when buying goods from its George clothing and homeware range.
The supermarket is trialling a new scheme called George Rewards that will see customers exchange points for exclusive discounts.

You’ll earn one point for every £1 you spend on the range and double points on orders of £50 or more, excluding delivery charges, which will be automatically added to your account.
Unlike rival supermarket schemes such as Tesco Clubcard and Sainsbury’s Nectar, you can’t use your points to get money off any type of shopping.
Instead, you’ll be given a list of tailored discounts which you can take advantage of in exchange for a certain number of points.
For example, when The Sun signed up, we were offered four deals including 15 per cent off when we spent £30 or more for 140 points.

One hundred points was worth 10 per cent off girl’s dressed and 120 points would get us 10 per cent off baby clothing.
Meanwhile, we could get a 20 per cent discount on adult boots if we traded in 210 points.
But before you part with your cash, it’s worth looking at forums like HotUKDeals and Couponfollow.com for any free discount codes that could be more useful to you.
Also check cashback sites like Topcashback and Quidco to see if they have any better deals to offer too.
The scheme, which was spotted by LatestDeals.co.uk bargain hunters, is available to those who shop online and you’ll need a George.com account before you can start collecting points.
Because Asda has only just launched the trial it is offering a handful of ways to kick start your collection – you’ll get 100 points just for signing up.

By signing up for a loyalty card, a retailer will get a lot of information about you and your shopping habits. The data might be shared within its group of companies to target you with offers and advertising.
If a firm goes bust, you will lose your points, which have no cash value. Hoarding points also means you risk losing them if a retailer or restaurant shuts your account after a long period of inaction.
Read the terms and conditions carefullly some retailers and restaurant will have expiration dates on certain offers (for example you might have limited amount of time to spend your extra points).
Don’t choose where to shop or where to eat based on a store’s loyalty scheme. If there is a particular item you want, shop around rather than head straight for the retailer where you have a loyalty card. In a restaurant check some of the special deals or menus – they might be better value than the loyalty scheme.
Beware of spending more simply because you have a loyalty card and don’t buy something just for any bonus points you may earn.
You’ll also get 150 points for writing a review, another 20 points if you share your birthday with the retailer and 50 points each for the first five friends that you refer when they sign up.
Once they’ve place their first order, you’ll get another 150 points added to your account.
Shoppers will also earn an extra 10 points on orders place between 12am and 12pm and no minimum spend is required.
Opting for click and collect will see your account boosted by another 50 points and you can score bonus points if you choose to pick up your order at least three days after you’ve placed it.
The longer you leave it to collect your order, the more points you earn.
But it’s worth noting that by signing up you are agreeing to Asda sending you emails about the latest offers, news and “other marketing material”, as well as feedback surveys.

George covers Asda’s own brand clothing ranges for men, women and children, as well as its collection of homeware.
If it’s successful and rolled out in stores too then it will be the only loyalty scheme that Asda runs, aside from the Asda Money Cashback Credit Card.
