Aliadiere spent much of his early career at Arsenal, signed to the club from 1999-2007, then went on to have two spells with Lorient, where he came across Claude-Maurice.
Now his former sides are in negotiations over the 21-year-old and Aliadiere thinks the young Frenchman could be a bit of a bargain for the Gunners at around £11.5m.
‘For the money that we talk about I think he’ll make it,’ Aliadiere told ‘It’s about taking a gamble now when other teams aren’t prepared to.
‘The market has gone so crazy in the last few years. If you want a top level international it’s nothing cheaper than £40m.

‘At a club like Arsenal that gives chances to young players it would be a good step for him.’
It would be a big step up for Claude-Maurice from Ligue 2 to the upper echelons of the Premier League, but Aliadiere believes he has the natural skills to manage it.
‘I remember incredible quick feet, a technical player,’ the former Middlesborough man continued.
‘Technically he was amazing. The only thing – he was young at the time – was making the right decision, passing when you need to pass.
‘He was dribbling all the time when I was there. But he’s a very sharp, skilful player.’

The youngster broke into the Lorient first team in the 2017/18 season and became a fixture last campaign, making 35 starts in Ligue 2, scoring 14 goals.
