Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed the midweek win at Wolves (Picture: Getty)Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is in contention to feature for Arsenal in their pivotal Premier League match against Leicester on Sunday.
The Gabon international, the division’s joint leading goalscorer this season, missed Wednesday’s damaging 3-1 defeat against Wolves after undergoing what his club termed ‘ a small procedure on a sinus’.
In his absence, Unai Emery’s side slumped to a 3-1 defeat at Molineux which followed on from last Sunday’s equally farcical performance against Crystal Palace which leaves the Gunners playing catch-up in the race to secure Champions League qualification.
‘Pierre had a small procedure on a sinus which went well and he is being assessed ahead of Sunday’s match at Leicester,’ read a statement on the club’s official website.
Arsenal will again, however, be without Aaron Ramsey who suffered a hamstring injury in the Europa League quarter final second leg win over Napoli which is likely to rule him out until the final game of the domestic campaign.
Emery’s side have not won a league game in which Welshman hasn’t started since late February and will also be without the player who was initially bought to replace him, Denis Suarez.
The Spaniard has been restricted to just six substitute appearances since his arrival on loan from Barcelona in January but is currently nursing a groin strain that could see him miss the rest of the season.
