The 29-year-old is Arsenal’s top scorer this season with 18 goals, with Alexandre Lacazette just behind with 12 goals.
Lacazette was suspended for Arsenal’s clash with BATE Borisov in the Europa League on Thursday evening, which meant Aubameyang played a full game at the Emirates Stadium.
And so Emery has decided to rest Aubameyang for Sunday’s clash against Southampton and start Lacazette in attack as the Gunners continue their push for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

‘We needed fresh players with energy today and quality,’ Emery told Sky Sports.
‘They are a very physical team, organised and are going to work hard against us. We need to start with a team which is fresh and has energy.
‘We want to continue being consistent, and with a big intensity and aggressiveness like Thursday.’
