Arsenal have come to an agreement to sign Martinelli (Picture: Instagram @ituanofc)Arsenal are so confident Gabriel Martinelli will be a success at the club that they will set a date for the 17-year-old to make his debut for the club, reports say.
Unai Emery is on the verge of completing his first summer transfer signing having agreed a fee with Martinelli’s club, Ituano.
Along with a host of Brazilian clubs, Martinelli was tracked by Manchester United and Barcelona and trained with both clubs.
Yahoo Brasil claim the transfer fee will be £6million and the forward will be unveiled when he turns 18 in June.
Emery’s plan is to first allow Martinelli to assimilate into Arsenal’s youth set-up and the club will have a route in place for him to move into the first-team.
There will be a date in mind for Martinelli to make his first-team debut and there will be a push by the Gunners to get his European passport in place so a work visa can be granted.
Martinelli qualifies for an Italian passport, but hails from Sao Paulo in Brazil.
Emery must be strategic with his spending this summer (Picture: Getty)Although the coup of Martinelli will serve as an excellent start to the window for Emery, the Arsenal boss must be frugal this summer.
Arsenal could hand Emery a transfer budget as little as £45m, should the Spaniard fail to deliver Champions League football.
Emery needs to replace Aaron Ramsey, who is joining Juventus, and is also on the hunt for a left-back and wide forward.
Arsenal have been linked with a host of bargain options this summer, including Bournemouth star Ryan Fraser.
