Aaron Ramsey will join Juventus in the summer (Getty Images)David Seaman believes that Aaron Ramsey has made the wrong decision to join Juventus by stating that they are a smaller club than Arsenal.
The 28-year-old Wales international will bring his 11-year association with Arsenal to an end in June when he joins Juventus on a free transfer having reached a pre-contract agreement with the Serie A champions back in February.
Arsenal had initially looked to tie Ramsey down to a new deal at the start of the season, however, they took the unprecedented step of rescinding their contract offer in September as Unai Emery was unsure whether he fit into his plans.
Since then, Ramsey has been one of Arsenal’s most consistent performers, although he has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after sustaining a hamstring injury during their Europa League win over Napoli last month.
Juventus have been the dominant force in Italian football for the past eight seasons (Getty Images)Juventus were crowned Serie A champions for a record eighth successive time a couple of weeks ago, but despite that achievement, former Arsenal goalkeeper Seaman thinks that Ramsey is taking a backwards step by leaving the Emirates.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Seaman said: ‘Arsenal will remember Aaron Ramsey with great fondness. He’s a great player and the most frustrating part about all this is he’s playing even better now, and he’s going to leave!
‘It’s the same thing again, another great player is leaving our club to go to another club which is not really as big as Arsenal. For me, it’s so frustrating that they couldn’t do that deal.
‘He’ll probably get voted player of the year.’
Since joining Arsenal from Cardiff in 2008, Ramsey has made 369 appearances for the club, scoring 64 goals and winning three FA Cups.
