ARMED cops have surrounded a suspected gunman in South London this morning after he “stated he would kill people”.
Roads have been closed off in Addiscombe, South London, after officers swarmed around the car he was found in.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 08:32hrs on Tuesday, 19 March by a man who stated he would kill people.
“Officers attended Pagehurst Road near the junction with Addiscombe Road, Addiscombe.
“A man was found in a car at the location and when approached he intimated he had a firearm.
“Armed officers, LAS and LFB have attended the scene.
“Officers are attempting to peacefully resolve the situation.
“There are road closures in place while emergency services deal.”
A local resident described the situation as a “stand-off” after tweeting the armed officers had surrounded the car.
Busses have been diverted as cops respond to the reports of threats.
TfL tweeted: “Routes 289 312 367 689 are diverted in Lower Addiscombe Road at the junction with Pagehurst Road due to a police incident.”
