NINTENDO fans had been hoping for more information about the new Animal Crossing game at E3 2019 after last year’s big reveal that was light on details.
Unfortunately, the news wasn’t great for fans of Tom Nook and co — Animal Crossing: New Horizons won’t be here until next Spring.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons looks like it’s bringing a host of new features to the series
The new Animal Crossing game was revealed at E3 last year, along with a promise of a 2019 release.
Essentially nothing has been seen of the game since until today, so many fans had already braced themselves for bad news.
The name of the new game, and its tropical island setting were also confirmed in Nintendo’s E3 Direct video
For those unfamiliar with Animal Crossing, it is a uniquely Nintendo ‘life simulation’ game where you move into a town full of anthropomorphic animals, with in-game time matching up with the real world.
The player then has to build up relationships with the townspeople by doing tasks for them, tending plants, decorating their house, and the like.
The Switch version will be the first new Animal Crossing game for home consoles since Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City was released for Nintendo Wii in 2008.
The video showed the player graduating from a small campsite to a fully fledged town
Elsewhere at E3, Ubisoft have revealed two wildly different new games due early next year – Watch Dogs Legion and Roller Champions.
Microsoft meanwhile revealed its plans to release its next Xbox in time for Christmas next year, giving gamers a first glimpse of what they can expect with their big annual briefing.
Keanu Reeves also dropped by to let fans know he was starring in next year’s Cyberpunk 2077, and that the game would be available in April.
They also revealed more about Project Xcloud, which will let you play the latest Xbox games on any screen you like, whether you own an Xbox or not.
