AMAZON has promised to create 1,000 full-time apprenticeship roles in the UK over the next two years.
And they’re going to be lucrative for the lucky few who bag one – with top pay packets rising as high as £30,000 a year.
Amazon Amazon is offering 1,000 new positions as part of a sweeping apprenticeship scheme
The new scheme, which kicks off on March 4, will see apprentices work across Amazon’s UK sites – including the corporate HQ in London, and operational sites in Edinburgh and Cambridge.
There will be nine different programmes that last between 13 months and four years, which sit across areas like robotics, HR, leadership and safety.
Apprenticeships are fully-funded, and come with employee discounts, private medical insurance and a company pension plan to boot.
“We want to give people opportunities to succeed in the digital age, regardless of their start in life,” said Doug Gurr, UK Country Manager at Amazon.
Amazon There will be corporate and operational positions available for anyone who makes it through the application process successfully
“It’s never too late to retrain as an apprentice, there are always opportunities to prepare for the future world of work.”
There will also be 90 new Amazon bachelors- and masters-degree-level apprenticeships available as part of the program.
These will primarily focus on software development, senior leadership and automation – and involve classroom training.

Not all apprenticeships are open to the general public, however.
Two in every 10 apprenticeships will be offered exclusively to existing Amazon workers, giving them “a route from working on the shop floor” to top jobs in the company.
But the vast majority of apprenticeships – which are in addition to the 300 already active at Amazon – will be offered out to the public.
“Britain’s got talent. We’re known around the globe as a nation of builders, innovators and inventors, behind many of the great technological advances that shape the modern world,” Doug told The Sun.
“Like Britain itself, Amazon is made up of builders, innovators and inventors.
“Wherever you are in the country, our people endeavour to expand consumer choice and convenience and help tens of thousands of small businesses across the country grow their revenue and reach hundreds of millions of customers around the world by selling on Amazon.”
Amazon Nicola Elliott, a second-year automation engineering degree-level apprentice, said landing her role had been “life-changing”

Amazon told The Sun that the £30,000 position is for a Software Development Engineer, but it’s the role with the smallest number of vacancies on offer.
And don’t assume you have to be fresh out of school to become an apprentice.
Amazon told The Sun that anyone of “working age” is eligible – with one apprentice already on the books at the ripe age of 51.
“With applications for apprentices open next week for people of all backgrounds and ages, I hope Sun readers consider joining us,” said Doug.
“We want to play our part in creating the next generation of builders, innovators and inventors to make Britain the envy of the world.”
