Protesters have staged a peaceful rally in the Mexican capital against United States President ’s immigration policies, which have adversely affected Mexicans and people from many other countries.
The protesters gathered outside the US Embassy in City on Saturday, marking the end of Trump’s tumultuous first year in office.
The protesters held banners calling Trump “s**t.”
Trump recently used a vulgar word to refer to certain countries from where the US is receiving large numbers of immigrants. He called them “s**thole countries.”
That racial slur, paired with Trump’s anti-immigration policies, has created outrage across the globe.
Trump recently ended the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program for immigrant children from Latin American countries. He has long insisted that a wall has to be built on the US-Mexico border to stop illegal immigrants from that country, which he has previously called “rapists” and “murderers.”
Trump also imposed a ban on Muslims entry into the US and called for stricter legislation to stop the flow of immigrants from El Salvador, Haiti and some African countries finding way into the US.
The controversial US president described these places as “s***thole countries” in recent remarks.
Trump has also imposed a ban on the entry into the US of Muslims and called for stricter legislation to stop the flow of immigrants from El Salvador, Haiti, and some African countries.
Meanwhile, US Democrats have been pressuring Trump to rethink his decision to deport “Dreamers” — undocumented immigrants who arrived in the US as children.
An argument over that matter has led to a delay in the ratification of the US federal budget and a government shutdown.
Analysts have slammed Trump for the damage his administration is doing with the new anti-immigration measures.
Beau Grosscup, a professor emeritus of political science, told Press TV in an interview on Wednesday that Trump and his administration were xenophobic.
“They have a fear of foreigners. They are attempting basically to make America white again,” he said, using a play on Trump’s campaign slogan “Make America Great Again.”
