God’s tender mercies never cease

Isn’t it amazing how God’s love and compassion can be graciously awakened in favour of his redeemed people? It should be amazing! Like the father of the prodigal son, God’s heart reaches out to His erring children who are out there in the “wilderness” as a result of their transgression. When the children of Israel in the Bible suffered under the strong and harsh hands of their oppressors, many of them would have remembered with nostalgia stories they had heard of God’s mighty intervention on behalf of His people of old. No doubt, a good number of them would have seen their “misfortune” in the supposed light of God’s dwindling interest in the affairs of His people or even perhaps his weakening power in the face of the “mighty world powers” under whom they were suffering.

One should know in the first place that God is still all-powerful. The situation under which you groan may seem unbearable or the world around you may seem to be crumbing. Please, remember that as long as the Lord is on the throne, your situation is not hopeless. If He has hit you with His right hand, the left hand is there to draw you to Himself. Let not the tears you shed today, or the pins you bear, blind you to the fact that there is a Father up above looking down in tender love and saying: come to me and I will give you rest. He is always the One in charge and His love for you will never let you go! His purposes will ripen fast by unfolding every hour the bud may have a bitter taste because at the end, sweet will be the flower.
