US President bragged about approaching women without consent, yet the American nation chose to elect him, says his former contender, Hillary Clinton.
The 2016 Democratic nominee made the comments in an interview with the UK’s Channel 4 released on Saturday, while commenting on allegations of sexual assault against Hollywood film producer and longtime Democratic donor, Harvey Weinstein.
“Look, we just elected someone who admitted sexual assault to the presidency. So there’s a lot of other issues that are swirling around these kinds of behaviors that need to be addressed,” said the former secretary of state. “I think it’s important that we stay focused, and shine a bright , and try to get people to understand how damaging this is.”
The 69-year–old politician was citing the release of a 2005 tape, in which Trump is heard bragging about sexually abusing women.
The embarrassing video was recorded while Trump was on a bus with former “Access Hollywood” host Billy Bush.
Analysts believed at the time that the release would serve as a nail in the coffin of the Trump campaign; however,
Major Hollywood actresses, including Rose McGowan, Angelina Jolie and Kate Beckinsale, have recently been coming forward to complain about Weinstein’s behavior, reviving decades-long allegation of sexual abuse against the Hollywood film producer.
I think it’s important that we stay focused, and shine a bright spotlight, and try to get people to understand how damaging this is,” Clinton said. “The women coming forward is the only way that that story will be told.”
