Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan (R) in a press
conference with his Syrian counterpart General Fahd Jassem al-Freij in
Tehran on April 29, 2015.

Dehqan added that the Takfiri-Zionist groups are the
main threat to stability in the Middle East at present and, if not
contained, would do the same to the entire world in future.
He
also lashed out at the international organizations for keeping silent on
the atrocities and crimes committed by the terrorists in the region.
The
Iranian defense minister touched upon his meetings with his Syrian
counterpart, saying that the two sides discussed the latest developments
on the ground in the Arab country.
He said Iran and Syria are in
agreement that over the past decade the arrogant powers have tried to
undermine the anti-Zionist resistance front and safeguard the security
of Israel, adding that the latest attempts in this regard constitute
equipping and funding terrorist groups.
“The arrogant [powers] are
always opening new fronts in the region and Yemen is one of them,”
Dehqan said, referring to an ongoing military aggression by Saudi Arabia
against Yemen, which has claimed more than 1,000 lives in about a
month.
The Syrian official, for his part, appreciated Iran’s
concern for the situation in Syria and the condition of the country’s
military, saying that for over four years, the Syrian government and
armed forces have been fighting terrorists that are supported by foreign
countries.
Al-Freij, for his part, said Syria, helped by Iran,
needs to better assess the available means to counter terrorism as there
has been a surge in attacks by terror groups across the Arab country.
He said Syria is determined to win its battle against the terrorists to free the country from the criminals and murderers.
