Sad for fans of classic cinema: passed away at the age of 93.
The French film star, perhaps best known for his star turn in 1958 flick Gigi (which won 9 Oscars) and as villain Kamal in 1983 James Bond classic Octopussy, died in his home on Saturday, Variety reports.

The news comes straight from Louis’s friend and biographer, Olivier Minne, who said to Variety,
“Louis was the last French figure of the Hollywood golden age. And he
worked with so many of the greatest actors and directors.”
Olivier
isn’t overstating things. Over the course of the 40s and 50s, Louis
played opposite some of classic cinema’s most beloved leading ladies,
including Grace Kelly, Shirley MacLaine, and Shirley MacLaine and Joan
Fontaine. He worked with directors ranging from Hitchcock to Vincente
Minnelli. He has two separate starts on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In
terms of his personal life, Louis married Berthe Frédérique in 1946.
They had one child, who sadly died in 1981. Berthe passed in in 2014.
We’re sad to hear of Louis’ passing, and our hearts go out to his friends and family.
