How do you do it when you pray?

Prayer is a thing of the spirit. Prayer is the key to success, greatness and the means to communicate to God. It is a man’s spirit meeting in prostration with and before the Great Spirit – seeking, demanding imploring for help. The soul and body help the work of the spirit in prayer. When we show the world, ‘we are praying’, then it can be said that we know not what we are doing. Our attention is divided between God and the world. But God demands the total submission of our whole being. He needs us to hear Him too when we come to commune with Him. Where did you do it? Was it on the bed? Or was it in the bathroom?  How did you do it? Did you enjoy it? Or was the experience loving and worth repeating? When did you do it?

It is in this light therefore, Jesus says, when you pray, go into your inner room, and when you have closed the door, then pray to your father.  Jesus, our living example, often separated Himself from the crowd to pray. At Gethsemane, He separated Himself even from His close three to a quiet, secret place, where no distraction could stand between Him and the Father.
However, when people pray these days, they involved in showmanship through shouting, repetition and gesticulations to impress others. Go to God in your secret chambers and He will always hear you. The Apostle James puts it this way, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8) when you pray, God will answer you because He loves and cares for you.
