A Praying Melted Heart by Jokpeme Joseph Omode
My heart melted and became like water
When I was troubled with trillions of trouble.
My life was falling apart
And in so much pain and hurt.

I tried everything I could,
But nothing worked.
I had no one to run to
And I wished I were dead.

While the gathering waters roll,
While the tempest still is high;
Hide and see me through my saviour
Till the storm of life is over.

Other refuge have I none;
Leave, ah, leave me not alone.
Still support and comfort me;
Still shield, guard and protect me.

Pardon my offences,
Loose my captive chains,
Break down every idol
Which my soul detains.

Lead me on my journey,
Be thyself the way
Through terrestrial darkness
To celestial day.

Give me holy freedom,
Fill my heart with love.
Fill my heart with heavenly joy
And make my heart your dwelling place.
